Joint & Tendons
Performance horses put a lot of strain on their legs as they run, jump, spin, pull carriages, or perform sliding stops from a full gallop. Even the most placid trail-riding horses are asked to carry a saddle and rider for several hours.
According to research, joint and tendon injuries in horses, particularly affecting the tendons, can account for up to 46% of all musculoskeletal injuries in athletic horses, with the superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) being the most commonly affected area; making tendon injuries one of the most prevalent types of horse injuries in performance animals.
So no matter your riding discipline it is always better to support joints and tendons then to rehab them.
